Head SPA is one of the few services you can add to a salon without renovations or hiring new staff - while still selling it as a premium treatment. Before deciding to buy equipment, however, salon owners usually ask two questions: how much does it cost and how long will it take to pay for itself? Below, we work this out with examples, based on prices from our store and our experience at our salon in Warsaw.
What the start-up costs include
- Head SPA station - a freestanding shampoo basin, a bed, or a hair salon wash unit with a Head SPA function. This is the biggest expense.
- Training - in person in a small group or an online course. Without good technique, even the best equipment won't make clients come back.
- Cosmetics and accessories - shampoos, scrubs, masks, oils, towels. W Per treatment, this is about 20-30 PLN.
- Installation - practically nothing for a freestanding shampoo basin; for a bed, the cost of a plumber's visit (the connection is comparable to hooking up a washing machine).
As a guide, based on fall 2026 prices: a freestanding shampoo basin costs around PLN 7,000-9,000, a Head SPA bed from around PLN 10,000, in-person training PLN 3,500, and an online course PLN 1,500. You can find current prices in the Head SPA shampoo basins, Head SPA beds and Head SPA training collections.

Calculation assumptions
We're deliberately calculating conservatively - the way a salon introducing a new service should:
- 2 treatments a day - a minimalist starting point, without assuming Head SPA will immediately become a salon hit,
- 20 working days a month, or 40 treatments per month,
- cosmetics: PLN 25 per treatment (midpoint of the PLN 20-30 range),
- treatment prices: PLN 250 for 30-40 minutes at the basin and PLN 300 for 60 minutes on the bed. That's what a 60-minute treatment currently costs at our salon - many salons charge PLN 350-400 for it.
Calculation 1: freestanding shampoo basin
| Freestanding HP2S shampoo basin | PLN 7,200 |
| In-person training | PLN 3,500 |
| Total investment | PLN 10,700 |
| Revenue: 40 treatments × PLN 250 | PLN 10,000 / month |
| Cosmetics: 40 × PLN 25 | - PLN 1,000 / month |
| Left after products | PLN 9,000 / month |
With two treatments a day, the cost of the equipment and training pays for itself in about 5-6 weeks. With one treatment a day - in about 2.5 months.
Calculation 2: Head SPA bed
| Head SPA HP2B bed | PLN 9,900 |
| In-person training | PLN 3,500 |
| Total investment | PLN 13,400 + installation |
| Revenue: 40 treatments × PLN 300 | PLN 12,000 / month |
| Cosmetics: 40 × PLN 25 | - PLN 1,000 / month |
| Left after products | 11,000 zł / month |
Here too, the payback period is about 5-6 weeks with two treatments per day. The bed costs more, but the treatment takes longer and is sold at a higher price as a complete relaxation ritual.
Important note
The amount “left after products” is not net profit. You still need to deduct the treatment provider’s pay (or the value of your own time), utilities, rent, marketing, and taxes. This calculation shows how much money Head SPA generates to cover these costs - and that even with cautious assumptions, the equipment itself stops being a burden very quickly.
How much one hour of work earns
It’s worth comparing Head SPA with other salon services in terms of hourly earnings:
- treatment at a washbasin: 250 zł - 25 zł for products = 225 zł for 30-40 minutes,
- treatment on a bed: 300 zł - 25 zł for products = 275 zł for 60 minutes.
For most hair and beauty salons, this is more than an hour of standard services brings in - while the materials cost a fraction of the treatment price.
You don’t have to pay the full amount upfront
- Installments - the equipment can be paid for in installments at the time of purchase.
- Leasing - through LeasLink or Grenke. The monthly payment for a washbasin is usually lower than the revenue from a single treatment.
- BUR training subsidy - the in-person training is listed in the Development Services Database, so business owners can recover up to 85% of its cost.
W practice, this means Head SPA can cover its monthly payments from the very first month.
What speeds up the payback
- Packages and treatment courses - a client who buys a package of 4 treatments comes back regularly.
- Combining with other services - Head SPA after a color treatment, in a package with a manicure, or as a gift treatment. Find an idea for a premium package in the article Head SPA and kobido.
- Gift vouchers - Head SPA makes a great gift, especially before the holidays and International Women’s Day.
- Short videos on social media - Head SPA treatments are very “video-friendly” and look great on Instagram and TikTok.
Summary
Even with the conservative assumption of two treatments per day, Head SPA covers the cost of the equipment and training within a few weeks. The bigger risk is not the cost itself, but choosing the wrong setup or lacking good technique - which is why it’s worth first thinking about what your salon needs. Our guide can help: Head SPA washbasin or bed - which should you choose.
