Head SPA training - in person or online? How to choose a course

Head SPA looks like a simple treatment - washing the hair, a massage, steam. W practice, it’s a ritual made up of a dozen or so stages, where sequence, pace, pressure, and atmosphere all matter. The technique is what determines whether your client leaves delighted and comes back, or feels she paid too much for a hair wash. That’s why choosing the training is just as important as choosing the equipment.

What good Head SPA training should cover

Regardless of the format, check whether the program covers the complete treatment, not just a head massage. W our training, it consists of 11 stages:

  • makeup removal,
  • massage techniques for the nape, shoulders, neck, and décolletage,
  • relaxing facial massage with kobido techniques,
  • water massage,
  • scalp stimulation,
  • steam sauna,
  • scalp exfoliation,
  • applying masks,
  • choosing treatments for different hair types,
  • aromatherapy,
  • hair drying.

If a course ends with a massage and wash, your client won’t get the full experience she’s paying several hundred zlotys for.

5 questions to ask before signing up

  1. Who leads the training? Ideally, someone who performs Head SPA in their own salon and earns money from the service - not someone who only teaches.
  2. How many people are in a group? With 8-10 people, the instructor doesn’t have time to correct everyone’s technique. We train in groups of 2-3.
  3. Do you practice with real equipment? Ideally, it should be the same equipment you’ll use in your work.
  4. Does the training include a business component? How to price the treatment, describe it in your booking system, and sell it to existing clients - these are often overlooked, even though they determine the return on your investment.
  5. Can it be subsidized? Training courses listed in the Development Services Database (BUR) can be funded with public money, covering up to 85% of the cost.

In-person training - who it’s for

In-person training is hands-on practice under an instructor’s supervision. The instructor can see your hands and correct your pressure and pace in real time - no recording can replace that.

Here’s how it works:

  • Classes take place every Sunday (except public holidays) at our salon in Warsaw at 13/U5 Powązkowska Street,
  • groups have 2-3 people,
  • We arrange the date individually - it’s usually worth booking about a month in advance,
  • In addition to the techniques, we share business know-how: how to introduce the service in your salon and how to make money from it,
  • the training is listed in BUR, so business owners may receive up to 85% funding,
  • trainees get a discount on Head SPA equipment from our range.

Trainees come to us from all over Poland and other European countries - one day in Warsaw is often the quickest way to master the technique. Find details on the in-person Head SPA training page.

Choose in-person training if: you’re starting from scratch, want live feedback on your technique, or want to receive funding through BUR.

Online training - who it’s for

The online course has the same curriculum in the form of video recordings. Learn at your own pace and revisit any lesson.

  • video recordings showing every step of the treatment,
  • access to the materials for 6 months,
  • contact with the instructor while you learn,
  • certificate of completion.

To practice, you’ll need your own Head SPA setup (a wash unit or bed) and someone to perform the treatment on. Details: Head SPA online training.

Choose online training if: you can’t travel to Warsaw, already have the equipment and massage experience, or want to spread your learning out over time.

Training and equipment together

Many salons start with training and choose their equipment afterward - once they know what it’s like to work with a wash unit versus a spa bed. It’s a good way to avoid buying equipment that isn’t right for the salon. Our guide, wash unit or Head SPA bed - which should you choose?, and our cost estimate, how much does it cost to introduce Head SPA to a salon?, can also help.
